Thinking Differently About Software.

I haven’t used Photoshop since version 6, back when I first started as a Web Dev, and I’ve been meaning to replace my twitter background since I signed up.

This weekend I Thought I’d bight the bullet and just knock up a simple background, I used the very helpful tutorial over at Spoon Graphics to give me a leg up and even though mine looks similar I did try and make it a little different.

I did however get a little stuck when it came to the bit where I had to do a knock out mask for the Polaroid so my picture was displayed without cutting up my photo to fit, enter you suck at photoshop to the rescue.

OK I was looking for a plugin for my other site that would work like the social-network-bookmarking-thing-a-me-bob I have at the end of each post. except for the rather lovely GameDevKicks.com, Casey Young as keyed one by the imaginative name of “GameDevKicks Kick It Plugin“.

Unfortunately it didn’t work so can’t use it. But it did get me to thinking that I could probably do my own, seeing as how i used to be quite good at that there PHP stuff. So to get me started I thought I’d tweak one of the plugins I’m already using.

Enter “WP-Memory-Usage” written by Alex Rabe for checking the total memory being used by his WordPress install it’s a great plugin and all I wanted to do was tweak the colour for the usage bar on the Dashboard it only took me about an hour, and that was only because I wanted to read and understand what it was doing, WordPress has a pretty cool framework. I’m hoping to start working on the GDK plugin tomorrow, after I finish the fonts tutorial :-/.
